The event kicked off around 6pm with fans of Kelani who showed up to participate in the screening of his new movie ‘Dazzling Mirage’.

Gushing about the success of the movie Dazzling Mirage to YNaija, the celebrant excitedly listed five reasons why every average Nigerian should see the movie.

1. It is a fantastic love story: The movie Dazzling Mirage tells a love story which revolves around a slicker who against all odds embarks on a journey for survival, overcoming social stigma and prejudice.

2. It is a contemporary Nigerian story in a contemporary setting, it is something we can all relate to.

3. It is an eye opening on sickle cell.  The movie helps to raise awareness about the sickle cell condition and to help people make better and informed decisions. Not many Nigerians know that Nigeria has the most populous number of sickle cell carriers in the world.

500, 00 people are born with it every year. More than 40 billions are sickle cell carriers.

4. It suggests that you know your genotype.

5. It admonishes young people to choose right, make the right decision when getting ready to settle down.

Jaywon-600x3981-600x398

Music act Jaywon while speaking recently to Hip-hop World magazine, said the Nigerian entertainment industry is full of fake people.

He asked the question of how people can come to terms with an artiste posting a photo of a 2015 car online and when he is seen in reality, he drives a 2009.

Read below, his words from the interview:

“The truth of the matter is the industry is fake; everyone trying to say the next guy is fake. But we do stuffs in the industry that is extravagantly unnecessary. I have had instances when someone calls me up for a collabo, and I’m not available or booked for something else, then i apologise and turn it down, the next thing you would hear is, ‘Jaywon is fake, he cannot even support his fellow colleagues’. You see someone buy a car, post a picture of the 2015 model, when you see him on the street, he’s driving the 2009 model, why??”

“I have seen a lot of artistes bad mouth other people because they are trying to promote themselves but the truth is its no news anymore and it is wrong. As a person I try to do what is right by my colleagues as well as my family. I would rather provide for my family than go and pop champagne at clubs and am not saying popping bottles is wrong o, it is just how I set my priorities as an individual. See, if you have listened to M.I featuring 2face and Sultan, ”Human Being” that song sums up the industry we are in.”

Piers Morgan writes about Madonna’s epic fall – [Warning: It’s not nice]

by Anike Jacobs

Just when the buzz, American singer Madonna’s epic fall at the 2015 BRITS awards was gradually dying down, pop culture critic, Piers Morgan, decided to wade into it and oh my, was he harsh!

In his recent article on UK’s DailyMail, Piers described Madonna’s fall as a sign that the music legend is too old to act as a hooker on any stage.

Although he praised the singer for giving him one of his greatest moments in entertainment, while still in her late 20s, he threw a swing at her for being a ‘bad’ mother and her absurd dating choices, jumping from one boy toy to another.

Read below:

Madonna falls and the world gasps… in laughter.

Let’s be honest, most of us howled ourselves hoarse watching the self-acclaimed Material Girl morph into Material Hurl at the BRIT Awards, Britain’s answer to the Grammys.

For me, it perfectly personified the state of this once great legend’s career: dying on her a** in a pit of ignominy.

I don’t say that with any glee. I say it as someone who used to worship the ground she gyrated on.

I watched Madonna perform at London’s Wembley Stadium in 1987 with a great friend of mine. We were both 22, she’d just turned 29.

We got there early, and drank beer throughout the sun-drenched afternoon, then fell asleep at the back of the stadium only to wake up 20 minutes before show time to find 70,000 people in front of us.

Leave it to me,’ I told my mate, and I immediately started marching forward, hands waving, shouting ‘SECURITY, MAKE WAY PLEASE!’

It worked beautifully, the masses parted, and before we knew it, we were right down the front.

The concert, part of her Who’s That Girl tour, was sensational – genuinely one of the best I’ve ever seen.]

She sang 16 smash hits, starting with ‘Open Your Heart’ and ‘Lucky Star’, storming through ‘Papa Don’t Preach’, ‘Material Girl’ and ‘Like A Virgin’ then climaxing with ‘Into The Groove’, ‘La Isla Bonita’, ‘Who’s That Girl’ and ‘Holiday’.

Madonna was at the absolute top of her game; a sexy, exciting, dangerous, riveting pop superstar strutting, writhing and gyrating her scantily-clad torso through a set of stunning technical perfection.

It was magical, unforgettable entertainment.

Cut forward six years and I watched her again at Wembley, this time on her Girlie Show tour.

I hated it. Something had gone terribly awry.

Madonna had become almost a parody of herself. Suddenly all the compelling erotic, youthful freshness of that previous show had been displaced by cliché-d feminist claptrap. She had swapped natural brilliance for attention-seeking antics.

Bitterly disappointed, I wrote a savage review for The Sun newspaper, for whom I was the showbusiness editor at the time, and it was splashed all over the front page under the headline: ‘MAD, BAD AND SAD…the worst gig I have ever seen’.

Unsurprisingly, given The Sun sold over 4 million copies at the time, this didn’t go down very well with Ms Ciccone and a permanent Siberian frost descended over our relationship.

Since then, things have got steadily worse.

I’ve watched this undeniably supremely gifted woman descend into a pantomime freak, on and off stage.

As her music has got less popular – she’s recently been unofficially banned by Radio 1, Britain’s biggest station, for being ‘irrelevant’ – so her stunts have grown more grotesque, desperate and riddled with outrageous hypocrisy.

Asked three years ago before her upcoming MDNA tour if she had any ‘naughty surprises’, she sneered at her old rival Janet Jackson’s infamous 2004 Superbowl ‘wardrobe malfunction’ by saying: ‘You don’t have to show your nipples to be interesting, and it doesn’t mean you’re cutting edge if you do.’

She then promptly, and quite deliberately, bared her breasts in Turkey, where it caused huge offence.

At other times on the tour, she waved her naked backside at an audience in Italy, pretended to shoot people with fake guns in Colorado – scene of the Aurora movie massacre – and brandished Nazi swastikas in Paris.

All tasteless in the extreme, all done purely for headlines.

Last year Madonna even posted Instagram photos of her 13-year-old son Rocco clutching a gin bottle with the words: ‘The party has begun! Bring it!’

As I wrote at the time, what sort of mother puts that kind of image into the public domain, exposing her young teenage son to public condemnation?

A negligent, dumb, self-obsessed and repulsive one. That’s what.

Madonna is as immature as the gormless toyboys she dates and dumps with the zealotry of a pubescent teenager.

She likes them to be young and stupid because that way she keeps control, and never has to hear one of them say: ‘What the hell are you doing?’

And don’t even get me started on her Kabbalah nonsense, the PR-related ‘rescuing’ of orphaned African children, or that phony English accent she occasionally puts on.

As she gets older – Madonna’s now 56 – she gets ever more embarrassing.

Nothing is real, everything is for effect.

At the recent Grammy Awards, she stopped and flashed a moonie for photographers on the red carpet, revealing her fishnet stocking-ed derriere to the world.

She then pranced about on stage in a corset, thrusting her breasts and pelvis about like an ageing hooker in an Amsterdam red-light district window.

It was utterly toe-curling.

Compare and contrast with Annie Lennox at the same event, two years older than Madonna but oozing pure, ageless, class and grace.

So when I saw her fall at the BRIT Awards, I’m not afraid to admit I chuckled fairly uncontrollably for nearly two hours.

Sometimes in life, the good Lord sends us a message.

Madonna, a fellow Catholic, got a very loud and firm one last night: keep the cape ON, the fishnet stockings OFF, and start to act your damn age.

If not for your kids, or once fervent fans like me, then for the sake of humanity.

President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday, February 27, visited Delta state, where he was received by the Asagba of Asaba, Chike Edozien, in his palace.

While speaking, Edozien urged Jonathan to dualise the road from Asaba through Agbor and Kogi to Abuja, raise the Asaba Airport to an international hub to improve commerce and reduce travel time for the people.

He also implored the president to compensate families of victims of the 1967 civil war massacred by the federal troops they came to receive in Asaba as well as grant Asaba a federal university as a major contributor and pioneer business hub in Nigeria through the hosting of the Royal Niger Company.

The Independent National Electoral commission (INEC) in Akwa Ibom State in south-south Nigeria on Friday embarked on a one-day market outreach programme, to sensitise traders and the general public on the need to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) in order to participate in next month’s general elections.

The outreach programme was held at two major markets in the capital  – Afaha market and Akpan Andem market.

The PDPPCO wishes to use this forum to expose the ungodly plan by Tinubu to seize the presidency of Nigeria by subterfuge. The real reason Tinubu nominated Osinbajo has been made known to us and we hereby offer a public service to the Nigerian people by drawing national attention to it. Tinubu wanted to be running mate to Buhari in spite of the nationwide resentment for Muslim-Muslim ticket that he and Buhari planned to foist on their party men and women. But when he and Buhari could not push through the agenda within the APC, he (Tinubu), after being given the opportunity to nominate a vice presidential candidate, he decided to prop up his stooge in the person of Prof Osinbajo.

Tinubu, according to our information, has compelled Osinbajo to swear to an oath that after six months in office, he would resign as the vice president, in the unlikely event that their party wins. Credible pieces of information at our disposal indicate that Tinubu has perfected plans to come to power through the back door. The ultimate objective of this plot is to ensure that Tinubu becomes president. The script is simple: given the questionable health of Buhari, Tinubu, who is desperate to be president for his own selfish reasons, will simply bid his time in the evil expectation that Buhari will not be able to go the whole hog.” Fani Kayode said.

Here are the 4 INEC commissioners that MAY take over from Jega

Reports from reputable media outlets have it that the Federal Government may have shortlisted four national commissioners to succeed Prof. Attahiru Jega as the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

According to Punch Newspapers, Jega may soon be asked to hand over to one of the commissioners in INEC and also proceed on a three-month terminal leave.

Initially, there had been reports that Prof. Femi Mimiko, a brother of the Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko, was being touted for the position, however, the former Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Ondo State, is believed to be out of contention for the job.

The national commissioners now in the running for the role Jega could be either of; Dr. Mohammed Wali from Sokoto State, Mrs. Amina Zakari from Jigawa State, Colonel Mohammed Kurmi Hammanga (rtd.) from Adamawa State and Dr. Ishmael Igbani from Rivers State.

However, the FG has reportedly not decided on whether to appoint the acting chairman from the North-West, or from another zone.

Wali and Zakari were reportedly shortlisted because they hailed from the North-West, while Igbani and Hammanga were included on the list because of the argument among some top government officials that the INEC chairmanship should not be subjected to zoning.

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, says the victims of the menace of Boko Haram, specifically the Buni Yadi boys and Chibok girls, would always be in the prayers of Nigerians.

Writing a commemorative message on his Facebook page, Atiku said prayers will persist for the boys killed for wanting to acquire an education, as well as the abducted Chibok girls.

He wrote: “A year ago, young boys were brutally murdered by terrorists. We will never stop praying your killers be brought to justice. The Buni Yadi boys were killed for daring to be educated. They are the real heroes of education.”

“Unknown to most Nigerians, some of the Buni Yadi students were taken away by the terrorists, and their whereabouts remain unknown. We remain hopeful that the Buni Yadi boys, Chibok girls and all young people who have been abducted by terrorists will return home,” Atiku added.

Boko Haram insurgents stormed the Yobe college in February 2014, where they set on fire the locked hostels, after which they shot and slit the throats of the students who attempted to climb out of the windows, while some were burnt alive.

In April 2014, over 200 girls were abducted from the Senior Secondary School, Chibok, while preparing for their Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations.

A Resident Electoral Commissioner, has alleged that certain ICT experts and some desperate politicians have colluded to rig the forthcoming general elections.

The REC in question, Mike Igini, who is in charge of Edo state, claims that the afformentioned groups have connived to truncate the efforts of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct credible elections in the country.

He revealed that the mode of operation of the ICT experts and the politicians is by cloning and purchasing permanent voters cards (PVCs).

Igini made the disclosure while reacting to the arrest of seven people who were allegedly involved in the purchase of PVCs from market woman, at the New Benin Market, Benin City.

The suspects were arrested by the police during an attempt to purchase PVCs from some illiterate market women for N5,000-N10,000.

He describes as heartbreaking the conspiracy to clone PVCs, while also vowing to arrest and prosecute anyone involved in the practice.

Thousands of people took to the streets of Cameroon’s capital on Saturday, February 28, to protest against and denounce Islamic terrorist sect, Boko Haram and its leader, Abubakar Shekau.

The menace of Boko Haram began in Nigeria but has since slipped into Chad, Niger and parts of Cameroon.

The event organiser, Guibal Gatama said: “It was very important for Cameroonians to come out as a sign of solidarity for the 150,000 internally displaced people, for the 200,000 Nigerian refugees and the 170 schools that have been closed. I am optimistic that the military will be galvanised and I am sure Boko Haram has got the message that the people are united against them.”

The country’s Labour Minister Gregoire Owona charged at marchers in Yaounde, saying: “This march symbolises Cameroon’s unity against Boko Haram, before adding: ‘Shekau’.

‘I don’t believe Bible stuff about making love': Queeneth Hilbert, Ronke Ojo, other Nollywood actresses talk sex

by Chinwe Okafor

Sex seems to be a subject of discussion this week among these budding Nollywood actresses Pascaline Alex, Queeneth Hilbert, Ronke Ojo and Collette Orji.
In a separate interview among the screen quartets, they talked about what sex is to them.
Read below;
Pascaline Alex doesn’t mince words when it comes to her feelings about sex. She revealed that one of the things that turn her on is sex. “Let me skip the ‘Holier than thou’ stuff, sex sometimes turn me on too. But good sex follows when your man is good. I think it is between two matured people, sex should not be a forceful act. I think it’s something that comes out from the mind, you want to do it and this person wants to do it, it’s a neutral thing. I tell people sometimes that you don’t have to force a lady or force a guy to have sex with you, it’s just an attraction. It’s just what the heart speaks and what you want to do at that moment. I see sex as a neutral thing; it’s not a forceful act. I feel sad when I hear of rape in this our generation, it’s not good. Sex is not rape; you don’t have to put it in a rape kind of way so I think sex is a very neutral thing, it’s a thing of the mind”.
Queeneth Hilbert has had her fair share of experiences with men. She said, “When I was trying to establish myself as a model, every man I met wanted something from me. In this country, most men you meet don’t want to do anything for you unless you are ready to offer sex. Only very few men are nice. I don’t know if it happens like that to other women but for me, it has and that doesn’t mean I have anything against men. I don’t” she says.
But that hasn’t stopped her from having sex either especially with men, “Well, you see someone and you feel this guy will be good in bed, fine, go ahead and have it. Sex is something you can have if you feel good about it. I don’t believe all those Bible stuffs about sex”.
Ronke Ojo thinks sex “is not something to be compromised in life”. Not even her ethics as a Yoruba person and actress can put aside the importance of sex, even before marriage. She says it is as essential to life as money, “Sex is a normal part of life just like money. I know I am a Yoruba ambassador but personally, I believe any body above 18 that has a serious relationship can have sex even outside marriage. The couple should know what they have underneath their clothes. What if I do not like the size as a lady? Frankly, it is one of the reasons why many go into extra marital affairs because even when a man has everything in the world and does not satisfy me sexually, there is serious trouble. I can not go into a marriage and start regretting, besides, you won’t be able to tell your family members what you are going through in the name of marriage. I can not manage sex, it is either I enjoy it or not”.
For Colette Orji she can’t seem to wait to have sex. She said, “You know what the Bible and our parents taught us and also what actually is happening out there. If you want to listen to your parents or your Bible, you can wait till you get married. As for me, I don’t want to wait (laughing). I can’t abide by the Bible stuff on sex. Sex is something normal. If you know you are matured and ready and you can handle it then go ahead”.

Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Sam Sumana has reportedly placed himself in quarantine after one of his bodyguards died from Ebola.

The bodyguard, 42-year-old John Koroma, died from Ebola on Friday, February 27.
